Leo P. Brideau is president and Chief Executive Officer of Columbia St. Mary's, Inc. (CSM) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. CSM is a multi-hospital system which includes three acute hospitals in Milwaukee and Ozaukee counties, a rehabilitation hospital and a joint venture orthopedic hospital.
CSM operates 48 physician clinics throughout Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Sheboygan and Washington counties as well as a major ambulatory care center in Glendale and two urgent care centers. CSM is also affilitated with Madison Medical Affiliates, who have eight offices in southeastern Wisconsin. CSM employs more than 5600 people.
Previously, he served as President of Strong Health Regional Network in Rochester, New York, and General Director and CEO of Strong Memorial Hospital, the academic medical center hospital of the
Universityof
Rochester. He also served as Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Mr. Brideau has served in many state and national leadership roles in healthcare. Mr. Brideau chaired the board of the Health Care Association of New York State and has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Hospital Association (AHA), serving on its Executive Committee and as a member of the AHA Commission on Workforce for Hospitals and Health Systems. He was appointed By NY Governor Mario Cuomo to the NY State Public Health Council where he served for seven years. He was appointed by NY Governor George Pataki to serve on the noted Commission on Health Care Facilities in the Twenty-First Century. He chaired the AHA Ad Hoc Committee on Payment for Health Services as well as the Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA) Task Force on Future Physician Work Force.
Mr. Brideau currently chairs the Milwaukee Healthcare Partnership and the WHA Task Force on Access and Coverage. He is a Board member of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, the Greater Milwaukee Committee, and the Wisconsin Hospital Association. Mr. Brideau is a Fellow of the
American
Collegeof Healthcare Executives. He received a BS Degree in international economics from
Georgetown
University, and a Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration from the Medical College of Virginia.
